I was wondering why we were having sudden outbreaks of head pains and impotence from the secondary school students that frequent the clinic...just kidding. Glad to see that Physio knowledge was enlightening...even if it did leave you breathless. From another person living on the equator: 1391, from latin æquator diei et noctis "equalizer of day and night" (when the sun is on the celestial equator, twice annually, day and night are of equal length), and from Latin æquare "make equal, equate." The Brits were the first to use the word as a "terrestrial line midway between the poles"-first recorded in 1612.
